About Us

The Tuscarora School District is in Franklin County, just west of Chambersburg, PA. It is mostly a rural agricultural community consisting of four townships, one borough, and several unincorporated towns and villages. The district covers approximately 207 square miles in southern Franklin County. Recent census data indicates that the total population of the school district is 18,636 people, of which 2256 are currently students in our schools. Our district has one high school, one middle school, and four elementary schools. The district also offers an asynchronous cyber program called TSD Online Academy.

TSD provides summer programs, tutoring programs, technology integration, and a 1:1 device program for all K-12 students. Both College Preparatory and AP courses are offered at the high school. Work-study programs and internships are available to students at the high school. Athletics, music, drama, and many other extracurricular opportunities are available to the students. Each building has a library/media center. The district serves a population of 45.5% economically disadvantaged students, 0.5% English Language Learners, 10.9% Special Education, 0.8% Foster Care, 2.8% Homeless. The 2256 students are predominantly White (92.2%), 2.8% Hispanic, 1.1% Black, 0.4% Asian, 0.2% Indian/Alaskan Native, 0.1% Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander (Source: Future Ready PA Index, 2022). On average, 40-67% of the students attend post-secondary education or training.
